Leadership Principles and Applications

Questions: 1. What Carol Roberts should do? 2. Does each person need to be motivated and communicated with differently? Can this be done in a small team? How about a large team? 3. If you were a member of this group, what type of communication and motivational approach by Carol would be most likely to result in your working at your highest level? Answers: 1. All members are paramount to ensure that the committee succeeds in the goal of raising enough funds to the organization. Carol should communicate clearly the work of the committee and the expectations. She should give all members fair chance to state the reasons for their low productivity. Then she should listen and take appropriate measures to help all the members. Carol can remove from the committee for members who doesn't improve. 2. Yes, each and every person need to be motivated differently. These are because all the people needs may not at all times be similar. The leaders should deal with the individuals needs to ensure all people' are satisfied. Small teams people are small, and therefore, motivation and communication can be done to each differently. These are useful for the needs of the people are met fully and also it is fast as the members are small. Large team's communication and motivation to each differently may be hard and not efficient and therefore, it can be done well with the different groups of the employees. 3. Carol can use verbal communication. Face to face mode of communication would be the best means of communication as it has personal touch enabling the people able to talk and get a solution for their problems. McClelland's Trichotomy of Needs and expectancy approaches to know the perception of the members and the expectations they have to enable her to know how well to handle them.
